Richmond Fashion Week will celebrate the region's thriving fashion and creative industries from April 22-28.

In its 16th year, Richmond Fashion Week showcases the best designers, photographers, models, business owners and emerging talent from across Virginia, according to Richmond Fashion Weeks organizers.

Audiences will see numerous shows featuring jewelry designers, both successful and emerging designers, as well as a showcase of high-end Richmond boutique Liznel. Several events will take place at various venues throughout Richmond, said Chanel Nelson, founder of the Liznel brand and executive director of Richmond Fashion Week.

Other highlights of Richmond Fashion Week include the Richmond Fashion Week Awards Gala at the Hilton Richmond Downtown. Honors include Designer of the Year, Rising Star and Vanguard Changemaker Award.

The week ends with the Spring Finale Show at the John Marshall Ballrooms. It features luxury designers such as MO, CHRISTA, The Aziancy, Luxury Professionals, Jamet Jackson and David Harrell's Suit Brother, whose menswear has gained popularity and was recently worn by Nick Cannon.

RVAFW grew out of a fashion show put on by students at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2008.
